Heightec – National Access & Rescue Training

Our engineers took some training recently on Tower Climbing, Rescue and RF Awareness, as our engineers are regularly strapped to very tall poles or masts we felt that  an accolade in this area might be of great benefit so two of our engineers went on this two day course to gain yet more skills for their bag! Their tuition can be carried out at their training centres, across the UK; Kendal, London or Kelvedon.

Certification is valid for 3 years and requires a 1 year revalidation, all candidates receive a training manual and certification is issued upon completion of the course.

Course Title: Tower Climbing, Rescue and RF Awareness
The Tower Climbing, Recsue and RF Awareness course covers several modules on a two day course. The course will qualify climbers to work almost entirely from within the confines of protected areas and allow them to move to more exposed areas to carry our straighforward tasks. This course is practical with simulated work tasks and live rescues.

Complies with the climbing elements of MOD JSP375 Advanced Climber. ACWAHT (Advisory Committee for Work at Height Training) syllabus is also covered in this course.

Overview of Course
The course is intended for individuals who generally work with experienced climbers/riggers, it contains practical exercises for classroom lectures. The course provides a range of skills for climbing, including the use of all safety equipment, RF hazards, tower rescue and an introduction to light lifting. The course includes all elements of a Safe System of Work, method statements and emergency procedures. Evacuation and rescue are prcatised at height. Climbers will be expected to work almost entirely from within the confines of protected areas but are able to move to exposed areas if necessary to carry out straightforward work tasks.

Two of our engineers stayed one night in the Riverside Hotel and they recommend it for their great food, very good standard, swimming pool, sauna, gym. They also spent 2 nights in the Bridge Hotel, this features a pub downstairs, very homey and cosy, lots of customers in the evening and a great atmosphere.

At the training one of our engineers had the pleasure to cut the rope supporting his team mate, who was hanging below and placed his fate in his hands, this was a rescue simulated action. He had same opportunity and used that as well.

The engineers said “for sure the training built my confidence in climbing equipment. I would never trust a single rope or carabiner before”.
