On the ninth September, 2012 to 16th September, 2012, Communciation Specialists will be providing the communications for the Tour of Britain, 2012 race, we have been doing this for 8 years now and it is always a priviledge to support this fantastic cycling race through Britain.

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest professional bicycle race and a centrepiece of the British sporting calendar as the country’s largest free-to-watch live sporting event, with many hundreds of thousands more following via television and online.

The Tour returned after a five-year absence in 2004, quickly re-establishing itself as the main event in the British cycling calendar. Ranked at the 2.1 category by the UCI and initially held over five days, by 2008 The Tour of Britain had grown to become an eight-day event, allowing it to visit more parts of the UK than ever before.

The Grand Depart will take place in Ipswich, with Suffolk and Norfolk hosting the opening stage of this year’s race on Sunday 9th September. From there The Tour will visit Nottingham, Knowsley and Merseyside, Scotland, the North West, Stoke-on-Trent, Wales and Devon before the challenging final stage in the Surrey Hills, finishing on Guildford’s uphill, cobbled High Street on Sunday 16th September.

In between 100 of the world’s best riders will be tackling climbs in the Peak District, mid-Wales and Dartmoor to name but three of the locations The Tour takes in on its journey through England, Scotland and Wales.

Once again The Tour of Britain will showcase Britain’s stunning scenery to a domestic and international audience with some of the world’s top cyclists competing on British roads for the right to win the IG Markets Gold Jersey.

Later in the Summer the Tour of Britain’s website will feature a description on all of the stage routes along with highly detailed interactive stage maps. And of course in the build-up to The Tour itself you’ll be able to download the official Race Manual containing ETAs for all eight stages.
