Would you like to Volunteer?

ATSA depends on a small band of determined volunteers. In time we all have to move on and therefore they need to find their successors. If you would like to ‘give something back’ and help build the future of Services Telemarking, please consider volunteering.

The number of Telemark skiers across the Services and Britain continues to improve, but they would like to go further.   It is excellent to see the core of past racers still with the association but it is equally wonderful to welcome those new to Telemark.  As those with military ‘arctic’ experience move on they are finding that the newer competitors tend to come from pure alpine or ski-mountaineering backgrounds.  Such a spread of experience is fantastic as whatever their history, they all share a passion for Telemark skiing.

The Army Telemark Ski Association (ATSA) was formed in 2007 to gather like-minded people together for racing and further development of the sport. Now in its fifth season, ATSA is the acknowledged heart of Army and Service Telemark skiing as well as providing the foundation for British Telemark racing. Their earlier championships have provided high quality competition for more than 250 racers, from novice to grizzled veteran, and included UK civilians and other nations’ armed forces.  They are now a firmly established event that not only acts as the combined Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force Championships but is also recognised by British Ski and Snowboard as the British Telemark Championships.  The experience gained from such success has placed ATSA in a position to support Telemark at all levels. Immediately after these races they will be running a FIS Telemark World Cup for the 3rd year running.

However the success of any championship depends, in large part, on the competitors. We are keen to encourage beginners and we not only welcome back experienced skiers but also ask for your support to encourage new skiers for every season. Keep spreading the word and let us know, early, about your availability in 2013.
