We’re looking for a radio technician!

We are looking for a radio technician to work permanently from our UK office in Basingstoke. Communications Specialist Ltd is a family run business. We are a small team, but very hard-working and high achieving, operating all over the UK and internationally. The person we take on must be like minded and looking not only to invest themselves in their role but also the Comms-Spec team!

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role will vary from day to day. This is not a 9-5, clock in / clock out type of job, we require a ‘get it done and get it done right’ attitude.

The bulk of the radio engineering work will include:

  • Running the communications on sporting events.
  • Setting up and Installing repeaters or other advanced radio systems.
  • Programming hires and purchased radios.
  • Servicing and repairs of radio equipment both on and off-site.
  • Technical support for the team and our customers’ field.
  • Learning and forwarding new technologies / radio related systems to keep the business current in the field.

However, in between jobs or in periods of downtime there may be remedial work to carry out, such as:

  • Servicing and repairing our hire radio equipment and accessories.
  • Helping to assist with packing shipments or orders.
  • General office/warehouse remedial work.

The job will require you to be comfortable being face to face with customers and representing the company in the best way possible when doing so.

Note that we are an international company operating in Africa and the Seychelles alongside the UK. Although likely to be rare, there may be the requirement to travel so please make sure you are comfortable with that.

Qualifications

  • Trained in radio communication.
  • Trained and experienced in VHF/UHF commercial radio (Motorola / Hytera DMR and Analogue).
  • Understanding of IP site connect / capacity plus systems will be valuable.

It’s important you are passionate and excited by the prospect of working with radio and other closely related technologies.

We will be grateful to be referred to any interested Service Leavers who believe they are suited to this role and credentials and look forward to arranging interviews with any potential candidates soonest. Please do not hesitate to contact Ashley Labrosse should you have any questions or queries.
