Mining Oil & Gas
Mining Oil & Gas
Eliminate high risk from explosions with simple & reliable two way radios
Allowing our customers to fight crime, save lives and create a secure and safe environment.
The petroleum industry includes the global processes of exploration, extraction, production, refining, processing and transporting (often by oil tankers and pipelines), these harsh environments present certain hazards and obstacles, which is why the equipment used needs to withstand extreme temperature, noise, dust and moisture, many of these environments are producing combustible gases and airborne particles.
The two way radio has become an important aspect of this industry, it is vital these companies can communicate effectively across their teams, allowing them to react quickly and remain operational.
Intrinsically Safe Portables
ATEX & FM (Factory Mutual) designed for the Oil Industry “Intrinsically Safe” means that that the device is safe to use in hazardous environments where the presence of a spark, heat or flame could potentially create a safety hazard. In the case of two way Portable radios this is especially important. Since radios do contain electrical circuits, they do have the potential to generate a spark or heat and there are many situations in which a radio may need to be used in a potentially hazardous or explosive environment.
Such environments include :- Oil Rigs & Refineries, Pipelines, Coal Mines, Chemical Plants and certain factories.
In such environments, two way radio communication can be very important and even critical to control operations.
Safety At Work
There are two Classes of Intrinsic safety to which all electrical equipment must comply :- FM (Factory Mutual) & ATEX. Strict regulations cover the use of electrical equipment in hazardous atmospheres and every Industry must comply with their particula regulations.
As a general rule, the more hazardous environments such as Oil Refineries, Oil Rigs etc require equipment that complies with the ATEX Standard. Less potentially dangerous environments may only require electrical equipment that complies with the less stringent Factory Mutual regulations.
It should be noted, that if a particular Industry – such as the Oil Industry – requires ATEX Portable Radios, then all Accessories such as Remote Microphones and Headsets, must also be ATEX certified. ATEX certified Portable Radios are built to conform to ATEX regulations and are totally different to the standard Portable radio range.
